EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP EM 676 – SECTION 50 Final Project Instructions: Please collaborate in groups of 2-3 students and each individually submit a completed assignment in the file format name of Last Name-First Name_ Final Project. In 1,000 to 1,500 words, document a cycle of intentional change for your leadership development. Periodically throughout the course (e.g., weekly), please meet as a group to share your progress and findings in the assignment. You only need to share with others in your group what you are comfortable sharing. Please use the following sections in your paper and refer to Boyatzis et al. (2013) as needed. Discovery #1- Ideal Self: Clarify your personal vision statement and discuss how it encapsulates your values, purpose, and aspirations. If you’ve made any revisions since your Week 1 HW Assignment, summarize those differences and explain what led you to make those changes. Discovery #2- Real Self, Strengths and Gaps: Reflect on who you are today and ask for others close you, both personally and professionally, to describe in their own words what they perceive your values, strengths, and weaknesses to be. Also, ask these trusted resources to comment on what growth they may have seen from you over the last 6-12 months as you also think about what former gaps you have converted into strengths. Describe who you are today based on your reflection and the input you received from others. Also, based on the information gathered, discuss the strengths and gaps of your real self as they relate to your ideal self. Indicate if any gaps from your past have become strengths over time and briefly discuss what you did to build these strengths. Discovery #3- Learning Agenda: Again, based on your reflection and the input of those you trust, develop a personal learning agenda to address the two most critical gaps between your real self and your ideal self. Your learning plan should detail what gaps you are addressing, what actions you will take to address each gap, when you plan to complete each action (or when you completed the action if it was done prior to completing this final project), and how you believe the action item will help close the gap. Discovery #4- Experimentation and Practice: Describe what you will do to validate that you are becoming competent in the key skills or behaviors needed to close the gaps (i.e., new strengths). Clarify your process for making adjustments to your learning agenda based on experimenting with developing new strengths to close the gaps. Indicate how will you make yourself accountable to practicing those key skills or behaviors that are needed to grow your new strengths. Discovery #5- Engage Feedback: Discuss how the feedback you have received along the other four discoveries has helped your growth as a leader and how you believe it will contribute to your future growth. How has the engagement of others close to you and the group members from this final project impacted your relationships with these people? How will the experience of this project shape your ability to develop resonant relationships with others in the future? Works Cited: Boyatzis, R. E., Smith, M. L., Van Oosten, E., & Woolford, L.
