FILM 3: GERMANY Warum Lacht Herr W.?

For the third essay, I understand the movie did not have a clear issue like the previous two films. I was aware of this, but did not foresee the challenges this might cause. I encourage you to look at the issue more broadly, looking into how mental health is handled in both the US and Germany. What support is offered? What policies have been created to offer support? Perhaps there is no US involvement abroad for this topic, but what is the US doing for the issue of mental health support in general? Think about notable legal cases when considering who has the power or even the topic of adult guardianship (there is a lot to talk about power struggles there). I will be keeping in mind the added difficulty when grading these upcoming essays. However, you will still need to reach each sections required word count as this is a writing centered class. I encourage you to use this film as a starting point and to then look at Mental Health as a whole in both countries as you answer the questions.
