For this final assignment, I’d like you to view, listen to, enjoy, and analyze a video in light of what you learned in this course.
In the 13th century, a man named Jalāl ad-Dīn Rumi was an incredible Sufi, mystic, poet. Today, Rumi is among the most popular poets in 21st-century America. Amazing, eh? His poetry has been translated from Persian into several different languages. None have come across more clearly relating to the modern-day than the translations done by Coleman Barks, a poet himself. Barks narrates this video. So please, click on the video link here:
RUMI ~ ONLY BREATH (Links to an external site.)
Rumi ~ Only Breath
Enlarge it to your full screen size, and sit back, breathe, and relax into being an enormously important part of this amazing world and universe we live in. For we, indeed, are all one breath!
The grade for this assignment is very important. It functions as your final exam, though very different from what you’ve done in previous modules. As such, you must make a detailed response to the video in the submission box. It must be at least 30 lines long (not sentences but lines in a paragraph format), and it must show me that you fully understand the connection to music, poetry, video, and culture that is evident in this video and that is reflective of what you learned in this course.
