The essay should have the standard MLA heading in the upper left-hand corner, and a title. It should be word-processed (typed), double-spaced, 1” margins, 12 point Times New Roman, Arial or Calibri font. If needed, citations should be parenthetical in the text with a Works Cited page at the end. The paper should be stapled in the upper-left hand corner.
Below are the Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) for this course. Write a minimum three (3) double-spaced page essay assessing how well this online Honors course succeeded in meeting these SLOs. For the ones you deem the course successfully met, you should be able to give an example and describe how it was met (reading, class discussion, studying the PowerPoint or I already knew it). It is likely that we did not succeed in meeting some SLOs—if that is the case, state that it wasn’t met and why you think it wasn’t: lack of time, instructor incompetence, etc.
Here’s how I suggest doing this essay: write an introductory paragraph stating what you thought this course would be about and maybe what you hoped to learn. Then list each SLO and put your one-two sentence response to whether it was successfully met or not. Then write a concluding paragraph in which you evaluate how well the course did in meeting the SLOs overall and what could be done about the ones that were not successfully met. The conclusion could also comment on whether any SLOs should be added or deleted.
