Please answer two of the following three questions. Your answers should abide by APA style guidelines (including a title page, abstract, references, and footnotes as well as using 12-point font, standard margins, and double-spacing between lines). The main body of each answer should be approximately 3 pages in total length (it is acceptable if each of your answers is slightly shorter or slightly longer than 3 pages). 1. Social Determinants of Health When we discuss health care in America, what is meant by the term “social determinants of health” and why is this concept important to understand? What does the literature suggest are some of the most important social determinants? Of these major drivers of health, which ones do you think have the biggest influence on health and wellness? Do you have confidence that in the future there will be a greater focus on these social drivers of health, or do you think we will continue to primarily focus on traditional clinical care? Why or why not? 2. COVID-19 The coronavirus pandemic is the defining issue of our time. From health care to our economy, COVID-19 has disrupted society in countless ways. Discuss why you think America was not fully prepared for the coronavirus. Did we have any warning signs that something like this could occur? How have health care nonprofit agencies, county public health departments and large health care systems responded to the pandemic? Do you think COVID-19 will permanently change how we provide health care in the US? 3. Innovations and preparing for major changes in healthcare The way we provide health care in the US is always evolving. Discuss some of the new innovations in how we access and provide care, including through home visiting health care programs and through the larger shift from fee-for-service to value-based care. Also: Discuss innovations in care from other countries. Are there promising programs or effective health care financing models in other countries that you think we might want to adapt and use in the United States?
