Reflection on the COVID-19 Pandemic
The COVID-19 pandemic has changed daily life for people all over the world, and New Jersey has been especially hard hit.  As of December 6, there have been 370,000 recorded cases over 17,321 deaths in the state and 14.8 million recorded cases, and 282,000 deaths in the United States as a whole.  Over 1.8 million workers in NJ have sought unemployment benefits since the pandemic began, with more than 1.4 million qualified claimants receiving an average of $13,787 in benefits.  Students and their educators have been trying to manage distance learning while schools and college campuses have been closed.  And while many workers have been working from home, many others are going to their workplaces and facing real health risks.
Students have the option of completing a 1 to 2-page double-spaced reflection paper on their experiences and/or thoughts about the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.  You can choose to write about one of these questions or anything about your own experiences:
1.  What has changed the most about your daily life as a result of the pandemic?  How are you managing schoolwork, jobs, and/or family life?  What are the biggest challenges?
2.  What steps should our University take to help students and their families deal with distance-learning, financial impacts, and other issues?  What should the university do to help students transition back to campus in the future?  What should the state and federal governments do to help students?
3.  What should workers, labor unions, and other community organizations do to help one another through the economic crisis?  What should the local, state, and federal governments do to help workers and their families?
