This is a copy and paste of the prompt itself: “Please write a five- to six-page paper in which you critically discuss some position, argument, or objection encountered somewhere either in Crime and Culpability (by Alexander and Ferzan) or in the optional readings posted on the course website during the second half of the course (i.e. in the Raz papers and those below them). Obviously, your paper must have an expository component: you must lay out carefully the position, argument, or objection you mean to discuss. But your paper should not be purely expository: it should also include your own critical analysis and arguments. Focus on something fairly specific. Be sure to give proper citations (including page numbers) when attributing views or arguments to others.” There is a specific essay I would like for this paper to be written in response to, which I will attach to this post. Also, as the prompt mentions that it should include an analytical component as well as an expository one; I believe the paper should be split about 60/40 or at the very least 70/30 between expository/ analytical. Please keep in mind that this is a course in philosophy of law and the content of this essay must be centered on something specific pertaining to law. This assignment should be pretty straightforward, but I thought I should let you know that I messed up on my first paper for this class by apparently not writing enough analysis… I received a B- on my last essay so I’m really hoping that one of you professors can get me an A!
